Decision Paths
❧ General

PACIFIST - Jonathan has never killed another person except in self-defense with the exception of his sister, Mary, whom he killed when he awoke as a new Ekon and could not fight the bloodlust.

HEALER - Jonathan chose to help heal every person he came across in London who was ill. This raised all of the Districts to a status of "good" or "sanitary."

INVESTIGATOR - Jonathan carried out a multitude of investigations for various people in London, helping them with small tasks and minor mysteries.

❧ Clay Cox

SPARE - Jonathan spares the odious Clay Cox after witnessing him commit murder just before entering the Pembroke Hospital for the first time. Jonathan does not know what is happening at the time of the murder, and he refuses to give into the bloodlust forced upon him by his sire (Myrddin) that makes him mesmerize Mr. Cox and lead him to the shadows. As a result, Mr. Cox remains available to provide tips and clues to Jonathan in his investigations of the epidemic and other smaller quests for the citizens of London.

❧ Nurse Dorothy Crane

SPARE - Jonathan is tasked by Lady Ashbury with finding a blackmailer. He soon discovers that it is Dorothy Crane, one of the nurses at the Pembroke Hospital. The blackmail is in service of money for the illegal clinic Nurse Crane is running in Whitechapel to help the poor and those who are immigrants like herself. Jonathan understands the good work Nurse Crane is doing in the district, and so he spares her. However, he asks for her letter of resignation at the Pembroke Hospital and demands that she stop blackmailing Lady Ashbury. As a result of this, Nurse Crane continues her work and provides Jonathan with various medications to help the other people of London.

❧ Sean Hampton

CHARM - Sean Hampton is one of the first men Jonathan meets in London. He saves the Sad Saint of the East End from a Skal who had gone mad and violent. Unfortunately, Sean Hampton becomes infected and begins turning into a Skal, as well. Seeing the danger this poses to the night shelter that the priest runs, Jonathan uses his mesmerizing powers to force Mr. Hampton to drink his blood. This quenches the nascent Skal's thirst and cures Mr. Hampton before he can fully turn. As a result, the Docks where the night shelter is located remain relatively safe and a haven for humans above and Skals in the sewers below.

❧ Aloysius Dawson

CHARM - Aloysius Dawson, once a kind and generous man, was turned miserly and cruel by the epidemic and his own failing health. He witnessed the death of his brother and it left him terrified of his own mortality. Given his means, the Ascalon Club decides to turn him; as one of the most powerful Ekons in their ranks, Jonathan is tasked with this. However, after a lengthy conversation, Jonathan discovers the man's cruelty, his greed, and his fear. They would make for a poor immortal heart. He refuses to turn Mr. Dawson and uses his mesmerizing powers to strip away the fear motivating Mr. Dawson's desire for immortality. Upon discovering what Jonathan has done, robbing them of a valuable new Ekon, the leader of the Ascalon Club, Lord Redgrave, casts Jonathan from its ranks and sets the members of the Ascalon Club's rank and file upon him. This leaves Jonathan with both the Guard of Priwen and the Ascalon Club as enemy factions to deal with while trying to cure the epidemic in London.

❧ Geoffrey McCullum

SPARE - Geoffrey McCullum is the leader of the Guard of Priwen, a fanatical group whose sole mission is to eradicate vampires from London. Jonathan encounters him a few times, but after Dr. Swansea is captured and carried away by the Guard, Jonathan is forced to search for him and is confronted by Mr. McCullum. McCullum shows deep disgust for Jonathan at every turn, calling him a leech and a bloodsucker. After a vicious battle with Mr. McCullum, Jonathan pleads with him, trying to convince the man that they had the same objective, at least in part: stopping the epidemic that is destroying London. Mr. McCullum all but spits in Jonathan's face, refusing an alliance. Instead of embracing the man or turning him, Jonathan spares Mr. McCullum to prove the truth of his intentions and to spite the other man for his prejudiced ways. Mr. McCullum swears to kill Jonathan the next time they meet, but Jonathan snarkily shoots back as he's leaving the man that they're already making progress. Instead of calling him a leech, Mr. McCullum has finally called Jonathan by his name.

❧ Dr. Edgar Swansea

ALLOW TO DIE - Upon finding Dr. Edgar Swansea and cutting him down, Jonathan discovers that he's been beaten to the point of being fatally wounded. In the ensuing discussion with Dr. Swansea about all that Jonathan had discovered in his investigations, it came out that Dr. Swansea had tried to cure Harriet Jones' illness with blood stolen from Lady Ashbury. That blood had infected Harriet turning her into the Patient Zero of the epidemic. Furious with this ethical lapse and the unimaginable pain and suffering it has led to, Jonathan allows Dr. Swansea to succumb to his wounds as a mortal man, telling him he might well deserve it. As a result, the Pembroke Hospital is left without a head surgeon and the success rates for surgery are drastically reduced.
